Playster’s fair use policy has two major goals: to deter fraud and help us keep the service unlimited for all audiobook lovers.
Our fair use algorithm automatically suspends users whose activity could be seen to resemble any of the following activity:
• Commercial use;
• Automated consumption;
• Recording or duplicating content;
• Unauthorized sharing, leasing or distribution of content;
• Public broadcasting;
• Multiple accounts created with the same device, IP address or credit card
• Accounts using a blacklisted device, IP address or credit card;
• Use of a VPN or Proxy IP.
When a membership is frozen, we conduct an investigation to determine why it triggered our algorithm. Since we launched Playster, our investigations have uncovered cases of average consumption exceeding 24 hours per day, concurrent streaming on multiple IP addresses and other activity that appeared to be in violation of our terms and conditions. This type of activity incurs very high costs to us, which puts our unlimited offering at risk, and poses a risk to our partnerships with content providers, who license their content for personal use only. It's for these reasons that we take such a cautious approach to fair use.
We realize some accounts may have been flagged unjustly, which is we invite anyone affected to submit an appeal form so that we can address all concerns in detail with the attention they deserve. If your membership was flagged and we could not distinguish your activity from at least one of the above examples, you will receive an appeal form by email. You are, of course, welcome to contact us for further information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
